JoAnn P. Adams

JoAnn McArthur Adams entered this life on November 12, 1948 to Joe and Geneva McArthur.

She passed on to eternal life on June 23, 2012. She accepted Christ at an early age and served the Lord in many capacties. JoAnn was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1966. She attended the University of Texas for two years. She worked many jobs throughout her life but found her passion in 1980 as a cosmetologist and worked for more than 30 years enhancing the beauty of her clients using the motto "it takes a little pain to be beautiful'.

In 1984, she united in holy matrimony to Joseph Louis Adams. To this union three children were reared and they assisted with parenting three grandchildren.

JoAnn will be greeted at Heavens Gate by her husband, Joseph Loius Adams; her father, Joe McArthur, step-mother, Olean McArthur; grandparents Tom McArthur and Rosie McArthur Brown; sisters, Johnnie Faye Friley, Yvonne Reeves; brothers, Frankie Robertson, James Green, Lonzel Forrest and Jeffery McBeath.

Her jovial spirit always warmed the lives of those she knew and loved. She leaves to cherish the memories of her life, Iquita (Ernie B) Causey; step-daughter, Sharon (Tyrone) Sanders; adopted son, Marcus Adams; five grandchildren, Tanya McArthur of Columbia, SC, Jumall (Ariell) Hopson, Jujuan Hopson, Joshua Causey all of Moss Point, MS, SPC Ryan Causey of Fort Drum, NY; eight great grandchildren, Paris Williams, Kameron Anthony, Kailynn Norvell, Julian Hopson, Joshua Moore, Austin Hopson, Jordon Hopson and Melia Chriss; mother, Geneva Robertson of Hammond, LA; step-mother Clarissa McArthur of Pascagoula, MS; fifteen brothers, Hollis (Gloria) McArthur, Hulon Vining, Larry Robertson, James (Wanda) Robertson, Ernest (Donna) Robertson, Robert Earl Robertson all of Hammond, LA, Keith Robertson of Dallas, TX, Charlie (Elana) Robertson of Houston, TX, Melvin (Louise) Robertson, Joe (Shirley) Buxton, James (Fronda) Buxton all of Louisville, KY, Fredrick (Christina) Pollock of Moss Point, MS, Calvin (Amanda) Green of Mobile, AL, Percy (Tasha) Green of Jacksonville, FL, Dennis Forrest of Hazlehurst, MS; twelve sisters, Lucille (Lewis) Morris of Ponchatoula, LA, Evelyn (Louis) Lloyd, Marsha (Gregory) Strickland both of Natalbany, LA, Irma (Donald) Webber of Hammond, LA, Ruby Dean, Mary Clausell both of Moss Point, MS, Dana (Cecil) Watford of Mobile, AL, Patricia Ann (John) Brown, Joann Forrest, Theresa Forrest all of Hazlehurst, MS, Ann Williams of Perris, CA, Aramenta Buxton of Gautier, MS; five sister-in-laws, Shirley Robertson of Houston, TX, Liley (Art) Baker of San Diego, CA, Myrtle (Earl) Austin, Pauline (T.J.) Haskins both of Hammond, LA; one brother-in-law, Cleveland Golden of Baton Rouge, LA; one devoted uncle, George McArthur of St. Elmo, AL; two devoted nephews, Michael Hyde and Gregory Hyde; two goddaughters, Missouri Sims and Tori Poe; a special friend, Ary Armstead; devoted friends, Mitch Ellerby, Roebury Armstrong, Shelby Alexander, Gloria Miller, Shirley Robinson, Maryilon Harness, Jennie V. McMillian, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Nash, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Sing; devoted cousins, Patricia McArthur, Rhonda Durden, Suszette Patty and Jack Williams and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 pm Friday, June 29, 2012 at Asbury Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 1109 Convent Avenue, Pascagoula, MS.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the church with Rev. Joyce Gant, Officiating.

Interment will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Pascagoula, MS
